Visit to Sanor

By Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih 11nd ra

Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih the 11nd (ra), on his return from Simla in 1917, graciously accepted the request to visit Patiala and Sanor. This kind gesture from Huzoor (ra) was reported in Alfazl dated 11 September 1917.

A report of this visit was published in Alfazl, dated 13th October 1917 as follows:

‘Huzoor went to Patiala from Rajpoora by car. When he reached Patiala, there was another vehicle (Lando) ready to take him to Sanor. A crowd gathered outside the town to welcome Huzoor, lead by the Respected Hadhrat Molvi Abdullah Sanori sahib (ra). Huzoor (ra) first  went to the latter’s well (land?), then laid the foundation stone of his mosque, then he visited his house and sat there for a while, to make him happy. Then proceeded to the house of Mian Qudratullah Sahib Sanori ; where he had his lunch. Zohr and Asr prayers were performed together in Masjid Ahmadiyya Sanor. A large marquee was erected outside the Mosque and decorated as a Jalsa gah. After the prayers, Huzoor (ra) took the oath of initiation from a few new converts, returned from Sanor to Patiala and at nearly 5:30 PM, started an address at the magnificently ornate Jalsa gah.’

Again, Alfazl 16th October 1917 reports some more details of this journey thus:

‘Huzoor first of all went to Molvi Abdullah Sanori sahib’s house and sat at the same particular place where the Promised Messiah (as) sat (during his visit to Sanor). Presenting some grapes to Huzoor(ra), Molvi Abdullah Sahib said that I had presented the same number of grapes to the Promised Messiah (as) at this same spot, out of which He only ate a single grape. Hearing that, Huzoor also partook of just one grape. After sitting there for a while, he left. Then Munshi Muhammad Taqi Sahib invited Huzoor to his house, and requested Huzoor to pray for his son.

At the end of his visit, Huzoor went to Munshi Qudratullah Sahib’s house where a lavish feast was laid out in his honour. Huzoor (ra) ate there, in the company of all men present.’
